Accessing the local console of a Test Agent

For security reasons you cannot access the Netrounds Test Agent through SSH, Telnet, or other remote consoles. Rather, you need to access the Test Agent locally, which means you must either connect a serial cable (for a preinstalled Test Agent Small/Medium) or attach a keyboard and display (for other Test Agent types). For virtual Test Agents, the procedure is of course different. Detailed instructions follow below.

Note: The keyboard layout for all local console access is "standard American". Please keep this in mind if you are using a different keyboard layout for local management.

Preinstalled Test Agent Small

and

Preinstalled Test Agent Medium

These hardware models have a serial port for access. This can be used to change the default Ethernet configuration of the device. Log in as user admin using "admin" as password.

The serial port configuration is 38400 baud, 8N1 (8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit).

Use a null modem serial cable (9-pin D-Sub, DB-9).

and

Preinstalled Test Agent Large

To log in to the Test Agent, connect a standard USB keyboard and VGA display. Log in as user admin using “admin” as password.
