TCP and UDP communication ports required for cloud connection

A Netrounds Test Agent uses the ports in the table below to communicate with the Netrounds cloud servers. If you have a Test Agent behind a firewall, be sure to open these ports for outgoing sessions. A Test Agent requires no incoming connections; traffic is always initiated from the Test Agent towards the server.

Port

Description

TCP

443

Test Agent Appliances

default: outgoing to login.netrounds.com

This port is used by the Test Agent to connect to the Netrounds server using an encrypted connection. All management traffic uses this connection, so the Test Agent cannot be used without it.

TCP

443

Test Agents Lite

default: outgoing to agent.netrounds.com

This port is used by the Test Agent to connect to the Netrounds server using an encrypted connection. All management traffic uses this connection, so the Test Agent cannot be used without it.

UDP

123

Default: Outgoing to ntp.netrounds.com

This is the standard port for NTP (Network Time Protocol), which is used to synchronize the clock on the Test Agent. NTP is optional, but without synchronized clocks, tests with one-way delay measurements cannot be executed.

Note: You can also use your own dedicated NTP server, which may be located closer to your Test Agent. These settings are specified for each Test Agent individually by clicking the Test Agent in the Test Agents view, accessed from the main menu. How to point to your own NTP server is explained on the page Test Agent NTP configuration
